Sun Life Financial Plans, Inc. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sun Life of Canada (Philippines), Inc. (SLOCPI).

Sun Life in the Philippines

Aside from Sun Life Financial Plans, Inc., Sun Life Financial Philippines is represented in the country by SLOCPI, its life insurance arm, and Sun Life Asset Management Company Inc. (SLAMCI), its mutual funds manager.

SLOCPI pioneered life insurance in the Philippines in 1895. Today, SLOCPI is one of the largest and most trusted insurers in the country with almost half a million policy holders to date. In the last five years, SLOCPI has been consistently named the top life insurance company in the Philippines by the Insurance Commission.

SLAMCI is the principal distributor of the biggest family of mutual funds in the country – the Sun Life Prosperity Funds. SLAMCI was the first in the mutual funds industry to have an accounting system that adequately complies with the standards set by the International Accounting Standards. SLAMCI benefits greatly from the expertise of its mother company’s close association with MFS Investment Management, the inventor of mutual funds in the United States.

On top of your retirement fund, you may also get dividends. You can choose to receive this in cash, accumulate this at interest and withdraw whenever you wish, or apply it as payment for your installments. This is for those who desire to retire in style and be independent in their golden years.

Sun Kaganapan, Sun Kabuhayan, Sun Lakbay and Sun Pensionado are packaged Sun Pension Plus Plans. In case of death or disability, installments may be waived. Beneficiaries will receive maturity benefits at the maturity date. With GYRT insurance coverage computed for clients at age 40. In case of accidental death or disability, maturity benefits are advanced to your beneficiaries.

In line with our commitment to provide our clients with comprehensive and flexible products and services, we bring to you the following optional riders to provide you with insurance coverage on top of the benefits you will receive.

  • Group Yearly Renewable Term (GYRT)

Provides the planholder insurance coverage to be paid in case of death.

  • Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D)

Provides benefits to the planholder in case of death or dismemberment due to an accident. The AD&D rider may only be purchased together with the GYRT rider; it cannot be obtained alone. For information on Eligibility, Amount of Coverage and Duration of coverage for GYRT and AD&D, please contact us.

  • Personal Accident Protection (PAP)

Provides accidental death and dismemberment benefits to the plan holder. It also comes with an optional Medical Reimbursement.

  • Scholar Accident Protection (SAP)

Provides accidental death and dismemberment benefits to the scholar. It comes with an optional Medical Reimbursement.

  • Medical Reimbursement (MR)

Reimburses medical expenses incurred for the treatment of bodily injuries caused by accidents commencing within 30 days from date of accident.

  • Family Accident Protection (FAP)

Provides accidental death and dismemberment benefits to the plan holder and his/her dependents. It also comes with a Medical Reimbursement.

Beginning March 2, 2010, new business for these products will no longer be offered.
