Piolo, Matteo earn podium finish in Sun Life 5150 Triathlon

Piolo Pascual and Matteo Guidicelli demonstrated the rewards of living healthier lives as they conquered the Sun Life 5150 Triathlon held recently in Panglao, Bohol and bagged third place in the relay category.

The two stars competed as part the Sun Life Triathlon Team in the Male-Relay category of the Olympic-distance race. Piolo handled bike duties while Matteo was the designated runner. Completing the team is athlete, corporate executive, and Sun Life client Miguel Guidote, who took on the swim category.

Piolo is no stranger to races, having been a part of the Sun Life Triathlon Team for years now and participating in the longer distance Ironman 70.3 Triathlon. “I’ve been racing in triathlons for years, and the podium finish is a reminder to train harder and always prioritize my health,” he said.

As for Matteo, it was the seasoned triathlete’s first time to be a part of the Sun Life Triathlon Team. “It’s an honor for me to represent the brand alongside Piolo and JM who are such dedicated athletes,” said the actor, who was also supported by his wife and fellow Sun Life brand ambassador Sarah Geronimo at the event.

Despite their busy schedules, both Piolo and Matteo strive to maintain a healthy lifestyle. They don’t just stay active and eat right, but also secure themselves with a Sun Life health protection plan so they can be prepared in case a health concern arises.

Meanwhile, it was also a podium finish for Sun Life financial advisor Mabel Demavivas, who finished third in her age group in the Individual-Female category of the race.

Organized by the Ironman group and presented by Sun Life Philippines, Sun Life 5150 was held over the weekend at The Bellevue Resort in Panglao, Bohol, with over 600 participants in attendance. The racers were also treated by Sun Life to free refreshments and massages, and provided access to DE.A.L., Sun Life’s suite of digital, easy, and affordable life insurance products.

“We laud the Sun Life Triathlon Team for their impressive performance at the race, and we also congratulate all the other finishers for their amazing achievement,” said Sun Life Chief Client Experience and Marketing Officer Carla Gonzalez-Chong. “Fostering healthier lives is one of Sun Life’s sustainability focus areas. With the Sun Life 5150 Triathlon, we not only provide a venue for Filipinos to pursue their health goals, but also spotlight role models who can inspire their journey to wellness.”
