Sun Life Foundation donates PHP10 Million to ABS-CBN Foundation for Sagip Kapamilya Relief Initiatives

Sun Life Financial-Philippines Foundation, Inc. (Sun Life Foundation) is donating PhP10 Million to its disaster relief initiatives partner, ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation-Sagip Kapamilya (Sagip Kapamilya), to support disaster and natural calamity relief efforts.

“Partnerships allow us to do more because we are always strongest as one. We are thankful to have in ABS-CBN Foundation-Sagip Kapamilya, a partner that not only has a wide reach and a clear process in mounting disaster relief operations, but more so a heart that genuinely cares for others,” said Sun Life Philippines CEO & Country Head Benedict Sison, who is also the Chairman of the Sun Life Foundation.

The philanthropic arm of Sun Life Philippines, Sun Life Foundation previously supported ABS-CBN Foundation’s Ligtas Pilipinas sa COVID-19 campaign, which provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to over 3,000 frontline medical workers in various hospitals. Through the Bangon Luzon Initiative, Sun Life Foundation donated PHP500,000 to Sagip Kapamilya to provide rice packs for nearly 3,000 families who were affected by Typhoon Rolly. Sun Life Foundation also donated PHP1 Million to help provide relief packs for over 1,000 families in Cagayan and Isabela, as well as for the rehabilitation of the homes of 90 families in Tumana and Malanday, Marikina in the aftermath of Typhoon Ulysses.

On top of these, its global headquarters, Sun Life Canada, also donated PhP1 Million to support the Pantawid ng Pagibig Program, which helped 1,700 families in Cebu City and provided them with food bags. Sun Life Canada also donated CAD20,000 for the distribution of Noche Buena packages to 1,000 families in the areas of Bulacan, Malabon, Navotas, and Pasig.

“I am once again given irrefutable proof that working together on a shared belief of what is important is completely and totally possible. This means that there is no limit to what we can do together as a shining, bright Kapamilya force for good,” said ABS-CBN Managing Director Roberta Lopez Feliciano. “ABS-CBN Foundation and Sun Life Foundation share that same light with the belief that uplifting lives to build a nation is the way to transform our country for the better.”

This partnership promotes Sun Life Foundation’s goal of making holistic health a reality for more Filipinos.
