Sun Life of Canada (Philippines), Inc., the number one life insurance company in the country, is teaming up with PLDT Global, a wholly owned subsidiary of PLDT, the country's leading telecommunications and digital services provider, and ShareTreats, the first in the country to introduce the power of Gifticon (digital gifts), for an initiative that will not only help overseas Filipinos strengthen ties with their families, but also secure their future.

Under the partnership, Filipinos overseas will be given the opportunity to make a free two-minute long distance call to their families back home via PLDT Global's mobile app Free Bee, after watching a short infomercial about Sun Life's digital insurance products.

Available on Android and IOS, Free Bee is an advertising-based voice service which delivers high-quality IDD calls to the Philippines for free.

Upon ending the call, the subscriber will be taken to the ShareTreats platform, wherein he can avail of a Life Armor digital voucher worth P100 for a family member, who must also be a registered user of online shopping site Lazada. The family member may then use this digital voucher to avail of the Life Armor insurance product via www.lazada.com.ph.

Life Armor comes with P25,000 life insurance coverage for sickness and accidents for one year. It is an ideal product for overseas Filipinos who wish to protect their loved ones in the Philippines, as registration is done completely online and no medical examination is required. Moreover, loved ones may avail up to four Life Armor plans for a total coverage of P100,000.

“We’re delighted to collaborate with PLDT Global in the initiative as we believe that it will promote financial inclusion,” Sun Life Financial CEO & Country Head Benedict Sison said. “Our OFWs work hard to make sure that their loved ones back home will have a brighter future, and availing of digital life insurance for them will help make this a reality, even amid life’s uncertainties.”

“This is part of our broader commitment to ensure that our kababayans can avail of a variety of services on our Free Bee platform that would allow them to not only keep their connections stronger, but also take care of their families and secure their future through this partnership with Sun Life and ShareTreats,” said Albert Villa-Real, Chief Commercial Officer of PLDT Global.

“We are looking forward to working with Sun Life and PLDT Global in allowing overseas Filipinos to send their families love and protection. ShareTreats’ vision to create a cultural movement whereby every Filipino can interact and express themselves more through casual treat giving is now possible with this strong partnership,” ShareTreats Innovation Head of Partnership Vanessa Lee Cartera said.
