For the eighth year in a row, Sun Life of Canada (Philippines), Inc. (“Sun Life”) was once again named the No. 1 life insurance company in the Philippines. According to a report released by the Insurance Commission, Sun Life bested other companies in terms of premium income, as it garnered P37.39 billion in 2018. The company also led in in new business annual premium equivalent, which amounted to P8.22 billion.
“There are so many factors that made this milestone possible, the most significant of which are the support of our clients, the passion of our advisors, and the hard work of our employees,” Sun Life President Alex Narciso said. “It is our honor to be the Filipinos’ trusted partner in their pursuit of a brighter life.”
In 2018, Sun Life pioneered digital insurance, boosted services for the middle market segment through strategic partnerships, leveraged technology to improve processes, and strengthened its health and wellness thrust. All these resulted to a significant growth in the company’s client base, which is now at 4.3 million. Meanwhile, its number of advisors also increased to over 14,000.
This year, Sun Life is gearing up to launch even more initiatives designed to help Filipinos achieve lifetime financial security and live healthier lives.
“Given the growth that we achieved last year, and how the industry in general flourished, it is clear that more and more Filipinos are appreciating the value of life insurance,” Sun Life Financial CEO & Country Head Benedict Sison said. “Sun Life is committed to being the Filipinos’ lifetime partner in this journey. There is still a lot we need to do so that more can enjoy the benefits of insurance, but we are ready to take on this challenge.”
