Sun Life Investments Execs to explore growth opportunities in Asia

Sun Life Financial is looking forward to exploring investment growth opportunities in Asia in order to meet the needs of its clients in the region. This was declared by the company in the recently concluded Sun Life Asia Investments Conference held in Manila.

“Asia is growing and our clients’ needs are evolving. It is important for us at Sun Life to strengthen collaboration and communication so we can increase our capability to serve our clients,” Sun Life Chief Investments Officer Randy Brown, who flew in all the way from Canada to join the event, said. “We need to rise to the challenge and bring Sun Life Asia Investments to the next level.”

This was seconded by Sun Life Asia Chief Investments Officer Sancho Chan. “Part of our strategy in Asia is to grow in scale, invest in our talent, and achieve excellence in distribution and operations. The insights gathered in this year’s conference will surely help us move closer to these goals,” he said.

Among the points tackled in the two-day conference were the key investment trends in Emerging Asia and the fast-changing investment, geopolitical, and technology landscapes. Speakers such as Citigroup Managing Director Johanna Chua, MFS Investment Managements Business Development Director Chopin Zhou and MFS Investment Management Managing Director Jonathan Tiu, Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets Managing Director Michael Rodriguez, Credit Suisse Managing Director Stephen Hagger, and Credit Suisse Vice Chairman for Asia Pacific and Sun Life of Canada (Philippines), Inc. Chairman Lito Camacho shared insights, along with internal speakers from Sun Life. Present during the event were over 80 Sun Life investments executives from Hong Kong, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, and the Philippines.

The conference was held in the Philippines to highlight the country as one of Sun Life’s key pillars in Asia. This is a testament to Sun Life’s confidence in the Philippines, according to Chan. “There are vast opportunities for growth in the country,” he said. “With the help of our Investments team throughout Asia, we look forward to cultivating these opportunities so we may bring more Filipinos closer to achieving financial security and healthier lives.”
