Sun Life Celebrates Overseas Filipinos with a Special Day of “Pag-alala, Pagpupugay, and Pagbati”

In a recent celebration held at Starmall EDSA, Sun Life of Canada (Philippines), Inc. (Sun Life) commemorates the contributions of Overseas Filipinos in a grand holiday celebration dubbed, “Pag-alala, Pagpupugay, Pagbati,” an OFW Christmas Celebration Program.

The event was organized by the Blas F. Ople Policy Center (BFO) and was attended by 500 OFW family members, OFWs vacationing for the holidays, as well as former OFWs. Attendees were treated with various entertainment activities including a live band performance, activities and games, a Christmas costume contest, “Pabati portions,” intermission numbers, raffle, and snacks and refreshments.

As part of the celebration, Sun Life was awarded with the “Blas F. Ople Pusong OFW Award” in recognition of the company’s sincere and lasting contributions to the welfare of Overseas Filipino Workers, with the award received by Cary Casipit on behalf of Sun Life.

“We are truly honored by this recognition, because it reflects one of our most ardent desires for the Filipino people,” says Cary Casipit, Client Segment Marketing Head of Sun Life. “While most of the time our OFWs and their families prepare for the departure or pag-alis of their loved ones, it is more important and relevant that they prepared for the permanent homecoming or pagbabalik of the OFW, and that is where Sun Life plays an important role,” Casipit concluded.

Recognizing the importance of securing the future of OFWs and their families, Sun Life continuously promotes its Shine Pinoy Program which aims to help reunite both by paving the way for overseas Filipinos in to coming home for good and live a brighter, more financially secured tomorrow.
