Macroeconomy

• Following weekend hostilities, the U.S. and Iran are set for talks in Doha on Tuesday, according to President Donald Trump on Truth Social. While Trump noted Iran requested the meeting, a senior Iranian official previously denied upcoming technical talks.
• HSBC expects the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas to raise interest rates by 75 basis points as inflation overshoots targets amid dampened economic growth. Desmond Kuang, HSBC Private Bank's Asia Chief Investment Officer, noted that rising oil and rice prices present a severe inflation challenge for the central bank.

Fixed Income

• Subdued local bond trading and sidelined foreign investors nudged 3- to 4-year yields slightly higher. Conversely, Treasury bill demand improved as investors sought to lock in longer-term yields ahead of today's 3-year bond auction, which is expected to fetch between 6.40% and 6.60%.
• Investors are closely tracking upcoming US-Iran talks and the US jobs report for clues on the Federal Reserve's policy path. Meanwhile, US Treasury yields remained largely unchanged, with 10-year yield holding steady near 4.37%.

Equities

• Global equities climbed 0.86% as easing Middle East tensions prompted investors to rotationally reposition into the technology sector.
• The PSEi extended its gains on Monday, climbing 1.01% (or 61.17 points) to close at 6,133.41 as the Middle East deescalation developments provided improving outlooks in the region.
