Bright Morning - 17 June 2026

Bringing the latest market news closer to you.

Macroeconomy

  • Amid heightened anticipation, Kevin Warsh will head his first meeting as Federal Reserve chairman but is expected do very little, at least initially, according to the latest CNBC Fed Survey. The 32 respondents, including economists, fund managers and strategists, as a group see no rate change at this meeting or any meeting through 2027.
  • Citing the need to finance the country's P6.793 trillion budget, the Philippines has returned to the global debt markets and launched a triple-tranche US dollar global bond offering. The Bureau of the Treasury launched a triple-tranche US dollar bond offering (5.5-year, 10-year, and a tap of 2051 bonds).

Fixed Income

  • Philippine government bond yields dropped 5-25 basis points due to lower oil prices and strong buying interest, highlighted by a heavily oversubscribed 7-year auction.
  • US Treasury yields fell 2-5 basis points as dropping oil prices fueled optimism over a US-Iran peace deal.

Equities

  • Global equities slipped -0.26% as weakness in technology shares and investor caution ahead of the Federal Reserve's policy decision dampened sentiment.
  • The PSEi corrected yesterday, down -0.43% to close at 6,245 pts as the resurgent rebound (+6.14%) the day prior that pushed the index to four-month highs consolidated its bullish move.

Bright Idea

  • Volatile markets mean idle US dollars in savings may lose potential value. The SLIMTC USD Multi-Class Money Market Global Fund of Funds offers competitive yields compared to standard bank deposits, allowing your cash to grow and available for future investment opportunities.
