Bright Morning - 10 June 2026

Bringing the latest market news closer to you.

Macroeconomy

  • Oil prices fell on Tuesday after President Trump said a deal with Iran could be reached within days, even as Israel and Iran kept exchanging strikes. He said late Monday that the war could end in two or three days and the Strait of Hormuz would reopen after a deal.
  • More Filipinos were unemployed or wanted more work in April, data from the Philippine Statistics Authority showed. The number of jobless people reached 2.41 million, higher than 2.06 million a year earlier but lower than 2.96 million in January 2026. The figures point to uneven labor market conditions this year.

Fixed Income

  • Local bonds had a quiet start, with short-term yields moving higher. Treasury auction results were within expectations, but weak demand for the 8-year bond showed limited liquidity.
  • Treasury yields edged lower as investors awaited inflation data for clues on price pressures. Middle East tensions lifted oil prices after US strikes on Iran, adding caution to markets. The 10-year yield fell to 4.53%.

Equities

  • Global equities rose 0.22% as markets rebounded from a prior tech-led selloff, with chipmaker strength and easing oil prices helping offset lingering geopolitical concerns in the Middle East.
  • The PSEi rebounded on Tuesday, up 1.13% to 5,945.71, tracking the advance of other Asian markets.

Bright Idea

  • Volatile markets mean idle US dollars in savings may lose potential value. The SLIMTC USD Multi-Class Money Market Global Fund of Funds offers competitive yields compared to standard bank deposits, allowing your cash to grow and available for future investment opportunities.
