Bright Morning - 09 June 2026

Bringing the latest market news closer to you.

Macroeconomy

  • Trump said Middle East negotiations are moving forward even after Iran and Israel exchanged strikes for the first time since the April ceasefire. Reuters reported Iran had ended military operations against Israel but warned it would launch larger attacks if Israeli strikes on Lebanon continue.
  • Philippine regulators warned that major conglomerates face foreign exchange risks as about P1.6 trillion, or $26 billion, in debt comes due over the next three years. The 2025 Financial Stability Report said these firms face a heavy schedule of maturities and related FX obligations ahead.

Fixed Income

  • Peso government bond yields were higher by 10-15 bps tracking the move in global fixed income. Attention will be on appetite for new supply with 3Y and 8Y auctions slated for the day.
  • UST yields ended the day 1-3 bps higher. Yields moved higher as oil prices rose on flaring middle east tensions. Yields eventually came off session highs as oil prices eased.

Equities

  • Global equities fell 0.44% pressured by a pullback in Al-driven positioning and investor reassessment of the path for central bank interest rates.
  • The PSEi fell 0.99% on Monday, giving back some of the prior week's gains as traders took cues from the broader regional sell-off amid last Friday's US market rout and conflict in the Middle East.

Bright Idea

  • Volatile markets mean idle US dollars in savings may lose potential value. The SLIMTC USD Multi-Class Money Market Global Fund of Funds offers competitive yields compared to standard bank deposits, allowing your cash to grow and available for future investment opportunities.
