Bright Morning - 06 July 2026

Bringing the latest market news closer to you.

Macroeconomy

  • OPEC+ has agreed to a further increase in output targets from August, the group said in a statement on Sunday, adding to global supply at a time when oil prices are falling amid the gradual reopening of the Strait of Hormuz for oil exports.
  • Philippine inflation likely eased for a second straight month to a three-month low in June as lower oil and rice prices offset higher electricity rates, analysts said. A Business World poll of 18 analysts yielded a median estimate of 6.6% for June inflation, slower than 6.8% in May.ada.

Fixed Income

  • PHP government bond yields traded sideways, fluctuating within a tight +/- 3bp band as market participants awaited Tuesday's June CPI print for further cues on the inflation and interest rate outlook.
  • With U.S. Treasury markets closed for the holiday, Treasury futures traded largely flat. In Europe, 10-year government bond yields climbed 3bp amid growing expectations that the ECB may maintain a tighter monetary policy stance for longer.

Equities

  • Global equities advanced 0.45% as softer-than-expected U.S. labor market data eased concerns over additional Federal Reserve rate hikes. Meanwhile, resilient global services-sector activity reinforced confidence in the economic outlook, supporting risk appetite across markets.
  • The PSEi posted a third consecutive gain last Friday, climbing 62.31 points (+1.02% DoD) to 6,188.03. Sentiment improved as foreign investors turned net buyers, bringing total net inflows to USD 2.3 million. AC, BPl, and ICT emerged as the top beneficiaries of foreign buying activity.

Bright Ideas

  • As inflation is seen to moderate and markets anticipate rates to trend lower, don't wait for yields to go down further and consider bond funds and fixed payout products as part of your portfolio.
