Check out this homemade granola recipe for a customizable, nutrient-dense alternative to processed grains that allows for full control over ingredients, additives, and flavors.

Eating granola can lower cholesterol, help prevent heart disease and cancer, and add healthy unsaturated fats, fiber and protein to your diet. We recommend granola as a healthy breakfast option, but in limited quantities and not too frequently as granola can also high in calories and sugar.

Ingredients:

2 cups raw, old fashion oats

¼ cup almonds

¼ cup cashew

¼ cup peanuts

¼ cup raisins

¼ cup raw sunflower seeds

2 tablespoons honey

2 tablespoons coconut oil

½ tsp vanilla extract

  3. Place the mixture on a baking sheet. Spread thinly.
  4. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until toasted.
  5. Cool and store in an airtight container such as a mason jar. It will keep for 2 weeks.
