Bucket lists tend to be about doing spectacular, daring feats: skydiving, seeing the Pyramids, meeting a well-renowned personality. While having such goals are good, why not try to create a list that will have a longer lasting positive impact on your life?

We suggest creating a wealth and health bucket list. It may seem something unexciting next to bungee jumping, but once you are able to tick these off your list, achieving everything else will be much easier, because not only will you be fit enough to do them, you will also have the ability to finance them.

1. Understand proper money management. The subject of finances is not the easiest thing to grasp and is an abstract concept to many of us. But the thing is, our understanding of how money works is an imperative to help us properly manage our finances so we don’t miss the chance to become as prosperous as we can be. There are a lot of resources on the Internet, and you can also consult with financial advisors for free without any commitment to buy. Take advantage of these.

2. Pay off debts and loans. At one point or another, we will be incurring debt, whether it’s a home loan, a car loan, or even simple credit card purchases. Make it a goal to eliminate debts at the soonest possible time so you can fully live without these holding you back.

3. Keep expenses low. As much as possible, keep bills low. Cancel subscriptions or services that are no longer essential. Compare rates and go for the options that give the best value. Lower bills to have more money for savings.

4. Build an emergency fund Unexpected expenses such as sickness and calamities can always catch you off-guard. See to it that you’re ready by saving at least six months’ worth of expenses and put them in a savings account that you can access any time. Remember that this fund should strictly be used for emergencies only.

5. Prepare for retirement. Ensure a comfortable life upon retirement. Pensions may not be enough to cover future needs. Save early. It is recommended to save at least 15% to 20% of the total income to be well-prepared for the golden years. It would also be ideal to explore insurance plans that can contribute to a financially-free retirement.

6. Put affairs in order. There’s nothing wrong with drafting the will early. This is one way to ensure that assets are property are safeguarded. Estate preservation is one way to pass wealth to the next generation. It is not just for the rich. Anyone who wants to make sure that their loved ones are the ones to benefit from the fruits of their hard work.

7. Make your money work harder for you We work hard every day to earn money. Wouldn’t it be better if our money also worked hard for us? Investing in stocks or mutual funds can make this happen. And when we finally get on it, we can generate more income to save for our future.

8. Increase employability. Get more credentials that can help with career advancement. Don’t say no to opportunities to learn. Aside from acquiring new skills, it can expand your qualifications too. This will add value to an employee and could lead to a promotion or higher salary.

9. Spread the word. When you’ve gotten the hang of it, you will understand how life is much more comfortable when you know how to manage your money – and you will want the same for others. Share what you know and be an inspiration to those who are only starting out in their financial journey.

10. Consult a financial advisor. Seek the help of financial experts. A financial advisor can work with you toward the achievement of your financial goals. They can offer expert advice on how you can grow your wealth based on your individual situation.

1. Undergo a physical exam. We usually go to the doctor only when there are symptoms we are worried about. But time and again prevention has proven to be better than cure. Regular physical exams will help you check your general wellness, and a doctor can provide preventive measures from chronic illnesses such as diabetes and stroke.

2. Understand food and proper nutrition. When we know what’s good and bad for us, it’s easier to find conviction in the food choices we make and re-educate our palate. Understanding the marketing terms (no sugar added, non-fat, gluten-free, etc) and knowing the proper portions can go a long way.

3. Take up at least one physical activity seriously. What better way to shed excess fats than to engage in something you truly enjoy? Getting into sports means exercising and having fun at the same time. Whether it’s swimming, tennis, basketball or badminton, just choose one and enjoy it!

4. Get yourself insured. Protecting your health isn’t limited to exercising and eating right. Remember, there are uncertainties that we need to protect ourselves from. An insurance product enables us to care for our health when an unexpected event arises.

5. Achieve a healthy body image. More than simply reaching your target numbers on the weighing scale, make it a goal to achieve a healthy body image. Don’t just focus on a perceived problem area in your body – look at yourself as a whole and appreciate what your body can do.

6. Take care of mental wealth. Mental health contributes to overall wellness. It is important for an individual to foster and sustain good relationships. Emotional and spiritual needs must also be recognized to achieve life balance.

7. Keep stress levels low. Stress impacts physical and mental health. People who constantly experience stress deal with a range of physical symptoms such as headaches, upset stomach, increased blood pressure, chest pain, and sleeping problems. Aside from those, it contributes to emotional problems such as depression, panic attacks, and anxiety.

8. Make time for loved ones. Good relationships with family and friends can support overall health. Spending time with significant people in life has its benefits. It can help reduce stress levels, increase lifespan, and improve mental health.

9. Explore nature. Nature has a positive impact on mental and physical well-being. Connecting with nature can improve moods, increase immunity, and even improve one’s lifespan.

10. Increase mindfulness. Being mindful helps a person focus on the present moment. It brings awareness to one’s body, thoughts and feelings, and even the environment. Being present can contribute to living a more enjoyable life.
