Sun Life Financial Plans, Inc.

Established on September 18, 2000, Sun Life Financial Plans, Inc. is the pre-need arm of Sun Life Financial in the Philippines. The Company developed and introduced to the Philippine market a diverse suite of pre-need products, such as education plans, pension plans, retirement income or retirement plans, and life plans. It is the first pre-need company in the Philippines to offer participating pension and education plans.

 

The Company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sun Life of Canada (Philippines), Inc. (SLOCPI).

 

Sun Life in the Philippines

 

Aside from Sun Life Financial Plans, Inc., Sun Life Financial Philippines is represented in the country by SLOCPI, its life insurance arm, and Sun Life Asset Management Company Inc. (SLAMCI), its mutual funds manager.

 

SLOCPI pioneered life insurance in the Philippines in 1895. Today, SLOCPI is one of the largest and most trusted insurers in the country with almost half a million policy holders to date. In the last five years, SLOCPI has been consistently named the top life insurance company in the Philippines by the Insurance Commission.

 

SLAMCI is the principal distributor of the biggest family of mutual funds in the country – the Sun Life Prosperity Funds. SLAMCI was the first in the mutual funds industry to have an accounting system that adequately complies with the standards set by the International Accounting Standards. SLAMCI benefits greatly from the expertise of its mother company’s close association with MFS Investment Management, the inventor of mutual funds in the United States.

Pre-Need Plans


Sun Life Financial Plans, Inc. is a subsidiary of Sun Life of Canada (Philippines), Inc. Born out of the group’s desire to be of greater service to the Filipino people, it answers the growing demand for flexible pre-need products.

Incorporated in 2001, SLFPI offers innovative products that provide both guaranteed and value added benefits to customers. SLFI maintains capital and trust fund positions in excess of SEC requirements and is committed to meeting all of its obligations to policyholders in the Philippines.

Pre-need plans help you plan for future needs before the needs arise and Sun Life Financial pre-need plans let your money work for you.


Beginning March 2, 2010, new business for these products will no longer be offered.

  • Increasing plan benefits
    The Education Benefit per unit is P 1,000. A 20% increase of the Education benefit is guaranteed every year to cushion the rise in tuition costs

    Plans are available in 4, 5 and 7 year courses
  • Flexible payment terms
    You may choose to pay only once or stretch your payment periods to 5, 7, 10 or 15 years
  • Protection in times of uncertainty
    Credit Life and Credit disability are available to continue your payments in case of death or disability.
  • Convenience and Adaptability
    Benefits are paid in cash directly to you as the plan holder, making you fee to choose when and what to use it for
  • Transferability
    The plan is transferable. In case something happens to the Scholar, you can grant your Plan to another child.

Sun Pension Plus Plan

With Sun Pension Plus you get dividends* on top of the Pension Fund. You may choose to receive this yearly throughout your term, accumulate it at the end of your maturity period or apply it as payment for your succeeding installments.

    You may choose to stretch your payment periods to 5, 7, 10, 15 and 20 years

  • Dividends*
    On top of your retirement fund, you may also get dividends. You can choose to receive this in cash, accumulate this at interest and withdraw whenever you wish, or apply it as payment for your installments. The value of the dividends will vary depending on the Company’s performance and will be based on the prevailing rate at the specific time you choose to get them.

Sun Life has a series of pre-need products designed to help Filipinos realize their aspirations through a disciplined savings approach. The series features Sun Kaganapan, Sun Kabuhayan, Sun Lakbay and Sun Pensionado.

  • Sun Lakbay
    This is perfect for the would-be travelr who wants to see the world by way of a fund that is independent of their savings.
  • Sun Pensionado
    This is for those who desire to retire in style and be independent in their golden years.

Sun Kaganapan, Sun Kabuhayan, Sun Lakbay and Sun Pensionado are packaged Sun Pension Plus Plans. In case of death or disability, installments may be waived. Beneficiaries will receive maturity benefits at the maturity date. With GYRT insurance coverage computed for clients at age 40. In case of accidental death or disability, maturity benefits are advanced to your beneficiaries.

 



Optional Riders

In line with our commitment to provide our clients with comprehensive and flexible products and services, we bring to you the following optional riders to provide you with insurance coverage on top of the benefits you will receive.

  • Group Yearly Renewable Term (GYRT)
    Provides the planholder insurance coverage to be paid in case of death.
  • Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D)
    Provides benefits to the planholder in case of death or dismemberment due to an accident. The AD&D rider may only be purchased together with the GYRT rider; it cannot be obtained alone.For information on Eligibility, Amount of Coverage and Duration of coverage for GYRT and AD&D, please

  • Personal Accident Protection (PAP)
    Provides accidental death and dismemberment benefits to the plan holder. It also comes with an optional Medical Reimbursement.
  • Scholar Accident Protection (SAP)
    Provides accidental death and dismemberment benefits to the scholar. It comes with an optional Medical Reimbursement.
  • Medical Reimbursement (MR)
    Reimburses medical expenses incurred for the treatment of bodily injuries caused by accidents commencing within 30 days from date of accident.
  • Family Accident Protection (FAP)
    Provides accidental death and dismemberment benefits to the plan holder and his/her dependents. It also comes with a Medical Reimbursement.
