Sun Life Reaps Honors In International, Local Quill Awards
Sun Life of Canada (Philippines), Inc. reaped honors in the recent Gold Quill Awards and Philippine Quill Awards, winning a total of seven awards for its internal and external campaigns on financial literacy and health and wellness.
An international Gold Quill Award was bestowed on “Route 5,” Sun Life’s long-term growth plan created that concluded in 2015. The plan, which was launched in 2009, aspired to acquire 5,000 Financial Advisors, obtain P5 Billion in annual first year premiums (AFYP), obtain P5 Billion in net income, and acquire P50 Billion in assets under management (AUM) for Sun Life Asset Management Company, Inc. (SLAMCI) in five years’ time. It was an ambitious undertaking, considering how the insurance industry was facing several challenges then, such a 1.1% GDP growth, a .70% life insurance penetration rate, and a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of only 1.1% for new business in life insurance. In the end, Sun Life not only achieved all its goals successfully, but even surpassed the targets set.
The awarding ceremony for the Gold Quill Awards was held last June in Washington, D.C.
In the local scene, Sun Life was recognized in the Philippine Quill Awards where it received six awards.
An Award of Excellence was given to #LiveBrighter, the company’s recruitment campaign aimed towards millennials where being a financial advisor was presented as a profession that perfectly fits their personal aspirations and also allows them to become champions of financial freedom. The 360-degree marketing campaign resulted to the recruitment of 2,685 financial advisors in 2016, 63% of which are millennials.
Sun Life in Style, an internal event for Sun Life’s advisors, also won an Award of Excellence for using fashion to creatively highlight the message that “financial security will always be in style.” Breaking away from the company’s usual approach to business sessions for advisors, the event featured fashion stalwart Tina Maristela-Ocampo as speaker, while popular designer Ryan Madamba mounted a fashion show wherein that had Sun Life advisors themselves walking the runway.
Meanwhile, Awards of Merit were bestowed on Money for Life, a comprehensive, customizable financial planning program to ensure that a client will have sufficient funds for every stage of his life; the #MoneyforLife Challenge, a series of events that challenged digital influencers to change their financial mindset and behavior; Sun vs. Stars, a sports activity mounted in partnership with Star Magic to promote a healthy lifestyle while also raising funds for aspiring athletes; and the Sun Life Prosperity Card, which revolutionized mutual fund investing by marketing it as a retail item: a gift card worth P5,000 which may be invested in any of Sun Life’s peso-denominated mutual funds
