The Sun Life Prosperity GS Fund invests purely
in securities of the Republic of the Philippines.
These include all domestic fixed-income instruments issued
directly by the Philippine government. As such, payment of
proceeds to the Fund is backed by a sovereign guarantee.
Just how safe are government securities? Consider this
fact: for the protection of the investors,
all Philippine registered mutual funds are mandated by the
Securities and Exchange Commission to comply with some regulatory
restrictions. One of these is that no locally registered
mutual funds can invest more than 10% of its total assets in the
securities of any one issuer. The only exception to this rule?
Investments in government securities can be virtually
limitless, because these are considered as investments
guaranteed by the government.
A Diversified Portfolio of Government Securities
Our Prosperity GS (a.k.a. Government Securities) Fund allows
its shareholders to have investments in not just one, not just
two, but a whole portfolio of securities that have sovereign
backing. This means that for just Php 10,000, you are actually
investing in dozens of securities. If you use the same amount of
money to buy government securities other than the Prosperity GS
Fund, you can probably only invest in Retail Treasury Bonds
from an accredited distributor. With the Sun Life Prosperity
GS Fund, however, you reap a benefit familiar to all mutual
fund investors – the advantage of diversification.
For as little as Php 10,000, you become a shareholder of
the Prosperity GS Fund. Each share of the Fund gives you proportionate
ownership of all of the securities that the Fund invests in.
This means, instead of owning only a couple of Retail
Treasury Bonds, you may find yourself earning from the Fund’s
investments in a 90-day Treasury Bill, a couple of fixed-rate
medium-term Treasury Notes, some long-term Treasury Bonds,
and a host of other government securities
in the Prosperity GS Fund’s portfolio1.
Professionally Managed Fund
By far the most important factor a potential investor
must take into account is the knowledge and expertise of

Purchase Options
The minimum initial investment
for the Fund is Php 10,000 for Options
A & B, and Php 1,000,000
for Option C. Subsequent investments may also be made for
Php 5,000. The Fund has three purchase options:
Option A (front-end sales load) requires that you pay
the sales charge upon investing. Option B (back-end sales
load), on the other hand, requires that you pay a sales charge
only if you redeem (sell your shares to the fund) within seven
years, with the charges on a decreasing rate per year, reaching
zero after the seventh year.
Option C is also available for the Sun Life Prosperity GS Fund.
Purchasing shares with this sales load means paying a lower
sales charge upon entry (compared to Option A), and a lower
sales charge upon redemption (compared to Option B). The sales
charge upon redemption will only be applicable if you redeem in less than 2 years.
Interfund transferability
The Sun Life Prosperity GS Fund is fully transferable with
selected peso-denominated Sun Life Prosperity Funds. Here at Sun
Life Financial, we recognize that investors‘ needs change over
time, and have therefore made it possible for our clients to
switch between selected funds as much as four times a year
without having to pay any fees. So your Option A shares in
the Prosperity Bond Fund, for instance, may be transferred to
the Prosperity GS Fund by just filling up an
Order Ticket,
and vice-versa. Ask your Sun Life Mutual Fund Representative to
explain this feature to you in more detail.
Investing for the long-term.
When you invest in
a mutual fund, you are investing in a diversified portfolio
of securities that normally fluctuate in value. To obtain
the best results, they should generally be regarded as long-term
investments. Ask your Sun Life Mutual Fund Representative about
the best time horizon specific to your needs.
The securities market in which mutual funds invest tend to
rise and fall over the short-term, as will the value of your
investment. Your ability to withstand short-term volatility,
especially on the downside, will generally result in greater
returns over the long-term. When the value of your investment
decreases, and it will from time to time, be patient.
Let your investments work for you.
